  The first time Wind Meter starts after installing, it uses a built-in copy of its settings to prepare the opening-screen ad instead of waiting for them to download, so the Wind tab and its gauge appear with less waiting. Quitting and relaunching the app between wind sessions now leaves the full-screen ad intervals in place. Forecast, Mic mode, gust alerts, the widget, recordings and settings are untouched.

  Wind Meter has been rebuilt on a newer, shared foundation, and microphone mode, forecast, gust alerts and the home-screen widget work just as before. On first launch, the opening screen waits while you answer the privacy questions, and where your region requires it, Privacy choices can be reopened from the menu. Your saved recordings, alerts and settings are untouched.

  With your current location, “Start” in “Forecast mode” now checks location access first and only asks when it has not been allowed. Answering the location or location-accuracy prompt within about 10 seconds no longer ends the recording. The forecast is requested as soon as your position is known (the place name may follow a moment later). If no wind value arrives, the app may retry once and shows “No wind reading yet” after 20 seconds.

  When the microphone signal in “Mic mode” gets near its limit, such as in strong wind, a yellow note under the gauge now warns that the estimate may be unreliable and points you to “Forecast mode” or a real anemometer.

  No forecast loaded? “start” in “Forecast mode” now requests one for the saved city, or your current location without a saved city. The display uses “—” while waiting, keeping 0.0 for a zero-wind forecast. If no reading arrives, a card offers “Choose city” and the microphone estimate.

  Gust alerts are here: set a threshold and get a notification with the forecast time and gust speed. Add the new home-screen widget to see forecast wind, gusts and direction. Start is now right under the gauge (tap the gauge too), and each session saved to the gust log shows a result card with peak gust, average, Beaufort and duration.
