Lux Light Meter

Luxmeter measures illuminance with your phone's light sensor, in lux (lx) or foot-candles (fc). Open the app, point it at the light, read the value. Measuring needs no account and no permissions.

Is it bright enough here?

Pick a profile such as desk, reading, living room, hallway or stairs, or set your own target value. Luxmeter shows right away whether the value is within the chosen range: with an icon, a word and a scale, not just a colour.

Free and Premium

Measuring, profiles and rating, calibration, history, locations and CSV export are free. The free version shows occasional ads and records for up to 5 minutes at a time while the app is open.

Premium is a subscription with a monthly or yearly plan and offers:

• Recordings without a time limit

• Recording while the app is closed

• Room checks with several points and a rating

• PDF reports

• No ads

If Premium ends, all your data stays and can still be exported as CSV.

What for?

Check the light at your workplace and desk, set up reading light, compare LED bulbs, assess light for plants or check the brightness in hallways and stairwells.

About accuracy

Phone sensors give approximate values. Accuracy and range depend on the device, and some devices have no light sensor. The rating only says whether a value is within the chosen range, not whether a standard or regulation is met. For binding measurements you need a calibrated meter.

App languages: English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Swedish, Polish, Hungarian, Russian, Japanese, Korean and Traditional Chinese.

We are happy about a rating and your feedback. Thank you!
