Lan-Share: File Transfer

Lan-Share is a free way to chat and transfer files between Android devices and computers through a web browser — or between two Android phones. No account or sign-up is required.

Open lan-share.com on your computer, pair with an 8-digit code or QR code, and start a conversation. Send a quick message, drop in an emoji, or share files without switching apps.

How it works

Open Lan-Share on your Android device and open the web version on your computer — or open the app on both Android devices.

Pair the devices using an 8-digit code or QR code.

Send a message, an emoji, or one or more files.

The receiving device reviews the file name and size before accepting the download.

Designed for your local network

Lan-Share transfers file content directly between paired devices when a direct WebRTC connection is available. For the best results, keep both devices on the same Wi-Fi or local network and keep the app and browser open until the transfer finishes.

Each session has a per-file size limit (about 200 MB by default).

Some guest Wi-Fi networks, VPNs, proxies, firewalls, mobile networks, and routers with client or AP isolation may block direct device-to-device connections. If pairing succeeds but the direct connection fails, try a regular Wi-Fi network or connect both devices through the same phone hotspot.

Clear control over every transfer

Connection codes are short-lived and intended for one-to-one pairing. The receiving device can review the offered file before choosing to download it. Lan-Share does not require a public account for file transfer and does not intentionally store transferred file content on the Lan-Share server.

Camera permission

Camera access is used only when you choose to scan a Lan-Share pairing QR code. You can also connect by entering the 8-digit code manually.
