About TheFeed: Private Feeds+Chat
Read Telegram & X channels and send encrypted messages over plain DNS.
TheFeed is a lightweight reader and private messenger that works over plain DNS,
so it keeps working on networks where almost everything else is blocked.
Follow public Telegram channels and public X (Twitter) accounts in one clean,
fast feed. Read posts, view photos and media, and get a new-message badge per
channel — all delivered as ordinary encrypted DNS traffic that blends in with
normal network activity.
WHAT YOU CAN DO
• Feed — follow Telegram channels and public X accounts, grouped and easy to scan.
• Mirror — a read-only, web-style view of a channel with stable image and album layout.
• Messenger — send end-to-end encrypted messages to other users. Only the two of
you can read them; delivery is confirmed with matching safety emojis on both devices.
• Saved — keep private, locally encrypted notes and bookmarks.
• Telegram (beta) — sign in to your own Telegram account and use your chats,
groups and channels over DNS, text only. This section is an unofficial Telegram
client: it uses the Telegram API and is part of the Telegram ecosystem. It is
not made, affiliated with or endorsed by Telegram.
• Resolvers — a shared, self-healing pool of DNS servers, with a built-in scanner
to find more when your usual ones stop working.
PRIVACY BY DESIGN
• End-to-end encryption for messages (X25519, Ed25519, AES-256-GCM).
• All traffic is encrypted and rides standard DNS, with random padding so message
sizes cannot be fingerprinted.
• The feed and messenger need no account, phone number or email. Your messaging
identity is generated on your device from a recovery code you control. (The
Telegram section signs in to your Telegram account, directly with Telegram.)
• The app runs on your own device and connects only to the servers in the config
you use. Messages are end-to-end encrypted, so no server that relays them — nor
anyone else — can read their contents.
WORKS WHERE OTHER APPS DON'T
When conventional connections are throttled or filtered, DNS usually still gets
through. TheFeed uses that narrow path to deliver feeds and messages, and adapts
automatically by scoring resolvers on speed and reliability.
OPEN AND SELF-HOSTABLE
TheFeed is open source. Anyone can run a server outside the filtered network and
share a config with friends and family. Import a config, or paste a domain and
passphrase, and you are reading in seconds.
Free and open source, with no tracking and no ads of its own. The project
accepts optional donations. Telegram channels and bots show Telegram's own sponsored
messages, as Telegram requires of every client.
