Traceful: AR Drawing Projector

Traceful is an AR drawing app that turns your phone into a drawing projector for any picture. Your camera shows the paper, the picture floats on top, and you follow the lines with your pencil.

Draw with your camera on any paper you already have: no real projector and no tracing paper needed. Tracing with the camera is free with no time limit. Ads never appear while you trace.

HOW IT WORKS

1. Pick one of 49 templates, or take or choose a photo.

2. Stand your phone on a glass about 25 cm above the paper.

3. Pinch the picture to the size you want, tap Lock, and trace drawing lines onto your page.

PHOTO TO SKETCH

Turn a photo of your pet, your friend or your favorite place into a clean sketch. Switch between Photo and Sketch, and set the line strength until the outline is easy to follow. On phones with Google Play services, Traceful can remove the busy background so only your subject is left to trace.

AR DRAWING TOOLS THAT STAY OUT OF YOUR WAY

Every AR drawing tool sits in one small panel, so the paper stays in view.

• Picture transparency slider, so you see both the lines and your pencil

• Lock the picture once it sits where you want it

• Pinch resizes the picture, never the camera

• Flip the picture for mirrored drawings

• Light: turn on the flashlight for dim rooms

• Grid to keep proportions right

• Camera zoom for small details

49 TEMPLATES TO TRACE

Animals, flowers, people, places and things, all drawn for Traceful. 37 are free; 12 come with Pro. Search by name to find one quickly.

MY DRAWINGS

When you finish, save a photo of your page. Traceful keeps your drawings together with how long each one took, so you can see your progress, and you can share them with friends.

TRACEFUL PRO, YOUR WAY

• No ads

• Time-lapse: record your tracing and share a sped-up video

• Lightbox: put thin paper on the screen and trace from the glowing picture

• All 49 templates

Choose yearly with a 7-day free trial, monthly, or a one-time lifetime purchase through Google Play. Traceful reminds you 2 days before the trial ends, and you can cancel anytime in Google Play. Restore Pro on any phone with the same Google account.

HONEST ABOUT ADS

Never on the tracing screen. Free users see small ads in My drawings, Settings and the full template list, a full-screen ad now and then after tapping Done, and, from the third launch on, sometimes one when the app opens. Want a Pro extra without buying? Watch an ad, only if you choose to, to use a Pro template once, record one time-lapse or get 24 hours of Lightbox. Or watch 2 videos to get all of Pro, with no ads, for 24 hours (once a day). Pro removes every ad.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN

No account and no sign-up. Your photos and drawings stay on your phone. The camera is used only to show your paper while you trace.
